Here are some commonly asked questions and answers about our Kangaroo TG-31 Batteries. I hope that by reading about our batteries, everyone will feel more secure in knowing that Kangaroo sells a safe, easy to use, and very reliable battery.

Q. How big is the TG-31 Battery?
A. Kangaroo's battery is much smaller than a car battery. It's only 5 inches wide, 7.75 inches long, and 6 inches high. It's easy to lift since it comes with a handy built-in carrying strap. It's a lot easier to lift than a golf bag with clubs!

Q. How long will the battery last?
A. With proper maintenance (charging right after every 18 holes of golf), your battery should last approximately 100 rounds of golf.

Q. Can the battery shock me?
A. No. Low voltage (the battery is a 12-volt battery), approximately one-tenth the voltage of a house current, makes it virtually impossible to hurt yourself. Touching the terminals won't shock you, even if you touch both the terminals at the same time. In addition, if you unplug the Kangaroo Kanova Charger as recommended, no current can flow from battery or charger. So there is no way to shock yourself when connecting the battery to the charger.

Q. Hooking the battery to the charger kind of makes me nervous. What if I hook it up wrong?
A. If you do, it won't hurt the battery or the charger. You'll know the battery isn't properly hooked up to the charger because the red "charging" light won't come on.

Q. How do I tell which battery terminal hooks up where?
A. One battery terminal is marked with a plus sign (+). Connect the red clip on your motorcaddie to this terminal, and the black clip connects to the other terminal.

Q. And if I connect the battery wrong to the motorcaddie?
A. Again, no harm done. You won't damage your motorcaddie, and you'll soon discover your error because your motorcaddie won't go.

Q. What happens when it rains or my battery gets wet?
A Your battery and motorcaddie are both designed for use outdoors, so Kangaroos will continue to run in the rain. Excessive rain, however, should be avoided, as well as hosing down your motorcaddie to clean it.

Q. Can the battery leak any acid?
A. Kangaroo's batteries are sealed for life. Our batteries are gel batteries, so there is no liquid to leak out. The only maintenance required is to recharge the battery fully after each round.

Q. How do you guarantee 18 holes of golf on a long, hilly course with such a small battery?
A. Kangaroo's TG-31 battery is engineered with special Thick Grids inside, using an expensive material called antimony. It's a true Deep-Cycle battery, engineered to produce a long continuous flow of current. It's similar to the batteries in outboard trolling motors and grocery store scooters. This is very different from so-called “hot shot” or starting batteries that are intended to give a brief maximum burst of power to start a gasoline motor on a cold morning

Q. I found a place where I can get a battery locally for less money. Will this battery perform as well as a Kangaroo battery?
A. The consensus from our technical staff is that if your battery isn't from Kangaroo, they honestly can not answer your question. If you don't buy a Kangaroo battery, at least be sure it says “Deep-Cycle” on the label.

Q. I really don't understand how pro-rata pricing works for replacement batteries.
A. The basic principle is that you only pay for the amount of time your battery actually worked. Kangaroo's battery is warranted for twelve months from the date of shipment. The price of the battery is $96, divided by 12 months=$8 per month. If you must replace your battery within the warranty period, multiply $8 by the number of months your battery lasted and you have your replacement price.

Q. What is the little plastic cap on the terminal for? Can I discard it?
A. When transporting your battery, you want to prevent metal objects (like golf shafts) from contacting both terminals. Using the plastic terminal cover that came with your battery prevents any accidental contact from occurring.

Q. What is the optional Battery Carrying Case for?
A. The carrying case offers added protection and convenience when transporting your battery.
