KANGAROO OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The Kangaroo is equipped with a drive train system that enables it to be operated (driven) down steep slopes. In other words, the motor/gear drive unit and wheels are engaged at all times. The motorcaddie will not free-wheel when pushed forward.

1) As you approach the crest of a downhill slope, with the power switched ON, rotate the speed control thumb-wheel downward to a slower setting. The unit will slow down and give you a feeling of security as you drive down the hill.
2) If the slope is extremely steep, you may turn the power switch OFF, which will provide approximately 50% more braking power than just rotating the speed control to its slowest setting (as described in step 1, above). If this is too much braking power, alternate turning the power switch OFF and ON until you reach the bottom of the hill.

Overcurrent Protection An electric motor draws current to meet the load placed on it. If the load is too great, there is danger that excess current will be drawn, damaging controls, wiring or the motor itself. An example of this could be a motorcaddie stopped by shrubs or trees, unable to roll, with the power still on.

Your Kangaroo is equipped with an overcurrent protection circuit. It will turn itself off in any circumstance that causes current draw to approach the danger level, 45 amperes.

In this event, reset your Kangaroo by turning it OFF, manually, at the ON-OFF switch. After you have corrected the problem, cleared the obstacle, etc. turn your Kangaroo back on and continue normal operation.

Runaway and Circuitry Protection

The Kangaroo will shut itself off if left switched ON for an excessive period of time (about 4 1/2 minutes). The reason for this is to shut it off in a possible runaway situation. It also allows the solid state circuitry a cool-down period. To avoid activation of this safeguard, it is recommended that the ON-OFF switch be switched OFF each time you stop. Merely turning the speed way down will not reset this internal timer and will cause the Hillcrest to unexpectedly shut off. Turn the ON-OFF switch to OFF and then back ON to restart the Hillcrest if it shuts itself off, no harm done.

WARNING: Damage may result from pulling or pushing your Kangaroo with great force or for long distances if wheels are not manually put into their free-wheeling position. If you must tow your Kangaroo with a riding cart, put the Kangaroo into free-wheeling, first! Any resulting damage in NOT covered by warranty.
