Control Description

| 1) |
On-Off Switch: The on-off switch, located top center of the switchbox, is self-explanatory in operation. It is located for convenient access in starting your Hillcrest or, should the need arise immediate power cut-off. |
| 2) |
Speed Control: Speed is controlled by the rotary thumb-wheel located at the rear of the switchbox, convenient for either hand operation. The speed control decal indicates speed in relation to thumb-wheel position.
There is a feature, known in technical terms as "ramp up", that automatically provides a gentle start at any speed setting up to, and including, full speed. Even so, your Hillcrest is very powerful and it is best to start out at lower speeds, at least until you become familiar with the caddie. |
| 3) |
Distance Control: The distance control is located lower center on the switchbox. It is an oscillator controlled electronic device that allows your Hillcrest to travel ahead and stop at a chosen distance, indicated by reference markings around the distance control knob.
When set to a certain mark, your Hillcrest will vary the actual distance traveled with different speed control settings. Therefore, use the speed setting marked "Distance" as your standard reference speed when using the disance control. This will help you to learn to accurately judge the distance your Hillcrest will travel on any particular distance setting. |
Because the markings do not indicate actual yardage, take time to experiment and learn how far your Hillcrest will travel on each setting. Maximum setting is APPROXIMATELY 120 yards.
Distance Control Caution:
Directionally, your Hillcrest AB will follow the grade, ie: it may not run straight when used diagonally across a slope. Please keep this in mind.
Normal Operation:
| 1) |
Check desired speed setting. |
| 2) |
Turn ON-OFF switch to ON. You can vary the speed control to suit your own pace. |
| 3) |
To stop, turn ON-OFF switch to OFF. There is no need to change the speed control when stopping and re-starting. The speed control has a very wide range and can operate down to very slow speed, so be sure that the switch is OFF when the motorcaddie is stopped. |
Note: If you choose to stop the Hillcrest by turning the speed control to slow without activating on/off switch, it is normal for the power to shut off after a given time.
Distance Control Operation:With all controls OFF.
Set white line on speed control wheel to "Distance" mark. (You MUST do this to obtain consistent results.)
Estimate distance and set distance knob to appropriate mark. Each mark approximates 10 yards, counting from the left. All measurements are APPROXIMATE.
Turn ON-OFF switch to ON. Your Hillcrest will start, travel the selected distance and stop.
Turn ON-OFF switch and distance control to OFF. (Note that the distance control has an audible "click", ON and OFF.) Your Hillcrest is now ready for normal operation, or, if desired, repeat distance operation.
