The wheels on the Hillcrest AB are designed to be easily removed and replaced. Each wheel is held in place at the end of the axle by a spring-loaded retaining tab located on the inner side of the wheel. This tab engages into a groove in the axle formed by two circular clips installed on the axle. There are TWO sets of grooves, one for DRIVE and one for FREE-WHEELING. (Refer to Figures 1, 2 & 3)

This same wheel retaining system is also used to put the Hillcrest AB into the Free-Wheeling mode to allow the motorcaddie to be moved without the axle and gearbox/motor engaged, when not under its own power. Be SURE to read section on Free-Wheeling!!
To install wheel onto axle, pull wheel Release Tab on inside of wheel (See Fig. 1 & 2) outward toward tire on wheel and HOLD it in that position. This may be best done by placing the palm of your hand against the tread of the tire and placing your index or middle finger under the Release Tab, your fingers extending down the inner side of the tire. While holding Tab in the RELEASED position (pulled), place the wheel onto the end of the axle, sliding axle end into Axle Opening (Fig. 2). Slip wheel all the way onto the end of the axle, taking particular care to engage Drive Pins (Figs. 1 & 3) into Drive Pin Holes (Figs. 1 & 2). It will probably be necessary to rotate the wheel on the axle until pins and holes line up. When the wheel is on axle, up against the hub, with drive pins engaged, RELEASE the Release Tab. This will allow the Locking Tab (Fig. 2) to seat into the Drive Groove (Fig. 3). The wheel should now be securely mounted on the axle. Pull wheel outward on the axle to be sure locking device is properly engaged. Wheel should NOT slide off of axle.

To REMOVE wheels, pull Release Tab outward toward tire and slide wheel off of axle.
Drive wheels may be used on either side of the Hillcrest. There is no left or right.
The drive wheels on the Hillcrest AB may be put into Free-Wheeling. This means that the wheels will turn freely without the axle or motor/gearbox/differential turning or their accompanying resistance. This may be used for moving the Hillcrest AB when not under its own power. Placing the motorcaddie into Free-Wheeling is a MUST if the Hillcrest AB is to be pulled or towed by a riding cart.
To put the Hillcrest AB into Free-Wheeling, pull the Release Tab on the inside of the wheel (Fig. 2) and slide the wheel outward slightly on the axle. Position the wheel so the the Locking Tab (Fig. 2) is centered over the Free-Wheel Groove (Fig. 3). Release the Tab and allow the Locking Tab to settle into the proper groove. Wheel should now spin freely on the end of the axle. Hub drive pins will no longer be engaged into the wheel. Try to move wheel outward on the axle to ensure that the Locking Tab is properly seated. Wheel should NOT slide off of axle.
IMPORTANT WARNING: NEVER tow your Hillcrest AB without having placed EACH wheel into the Free-Wheeling position. Any damage due to failure to observe this warning is NOT covered by your Warranty.
